Modulbeschreibung

This summer school started in 2022 based on a collaboration between OST, HKA Hochschule Karlsruhe and Transilvania University of Braşov with participants from all over the world. It offers students the opportunity to deal with the topic of sustainability and interdisciplinarity in an international environment. The lessons consist of lectures, workshops and excursions. Every edition is organized in another country.

Professional competences:

• explain the global challenges related to climate change and sustainability.
• identify/understand possible solutions to reduce the ecological footprint.
• better understand different sustainable technologies.
• systems Thinking – Understanding the interconnection of environmental, social, and economic systems.
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – understand LCA method for evaluating the environmental impact.

Self-competences:

• organizing in a dynamic multicultural environment and take initiative for change.
• adapt to complex challenges – Develop resilience and problem-solving skills.
• reflect on their own impact – Critically assess their personal lifestyle and choices.  

Social competences:

• work effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams
• develop empathy and intercultural understanding to tackle global and local sustainability challenges together.
• communicate sustainability issues clearly and raise awareness of environmentally conscious action.
