The understanding of concepts and methods in production are increasingly decisive for optimal costs in a high-wage country. Students should become familiar with the basic mechanisms of modern production and be able to understand and apply the interrelationships.
The aim is for students to understand the needs and challenges of production and to be able to initiate appropriate measures. In addition, students should be able to apply this knowledge in the innovation process in a targeted and timely manner.

Professional competence:
Understanding the roles of development in production.
- As a development manager, know the subtasks of production and procurement in such a way that these functions can be optimally integrated in the development process and project.
- Being able to identify, control and change the production process and the typical drivers.
- Be able to specifically influence the interactions of product structure, series size and production processes on costs, delivery capability and quality.
- Be able to implement optimization of production processes using lean production as a central concept for improvement.
Self-competence
- Students are able to think critically and solve problems systematically by considering different perspectives and solution approaches
- Can extract important information for the project from a large collection of information
Social competence
- Be able to work effectively in a team on an optimization project in industry
- Be able to present concepts clearly and precisely
